Marine Corps Birthday Ball

Marine Corps Birthday 2026
A Tradition Since 1925
The Marine Corps Birthday is one of the largest social events and most anticipated traditions for Marines worldwide.
On November 10, 1775, the Second Continental Congress resolved to raise two battalions of Marines. Congress commissioned Samuel Nicholas, a well-known Philadelphian, as captain of the fledgling force of Continental Marines.
From Tun Tavern in Philadelphia, Nicholas raised two battalions as directed and began the long, illustrious history of the United States Marine Corps. Every year since 1925, the Marine Corps has celebrated its founding with a Birthday Ball.

The Marine Corps League History
The Marine Corps League perpetuates the traditions and spirit of all Marines and Navy FMF Corpsmen who proudly wear, or who have worn, the Eagle, Globe and Anchor of the Corps.
It takes great pride in crediting its founding in 1923 to World War I hero and then Major General Commandant John A. Lejeune.
